Will I have to pay to stay at the Hospice?
No. The Donna Louise Children's Hospice is a registered charity. Currently, all our services are free of charge to the children and families who use them, thanks to the generosity of our many donors and supporters.
Can we come to the Hospice whenever we want?
We operate a booking system to ensure visits are fairly allocated amongst families, but we will do out best to accommodate requested dates.
In an emergency, please contact us and we will do everything we can to help.
When I stay at The Donna Louise House will there be other families staying?
Yes. We can care for up to eight children at any one time. Sometimes we have whole families staying while on other occasions it may just be the child.
Who will look after any siblings?
All siblings are invited to take part in the activities in and around the Hospice, but they remain the responsibility of parents/guardians at all times.
Can we go out and leave siblings at The Donna Louise House?
This depends on the resources available at the time and would need to be discussed with the Care Team.
Are all family bedrooms en-suite?
Yes, all family rooms have their own bathrooms.
Who is responsible for my child in the event of a fire?
We rehearse a strict emergency fire procedure. Should there be a fire in the building, the nurse looking after your child/ren will ensure they are moved immediately to safety.
If I am not resident with my child, may I visit or stay for a meal?
You are more than welcome to visit at any time. If you would like to stay for a meal, please let us know so we can make arrangements for you.
Is it OK for family and friends to visit?
Yes. We have an open visiting policy although it is good to know in advance if you are expecting a large group of guests.
Are there any local places to visit?
Yes please ask a member of staff.
Can we eat takeaway food at The Donna Louise House?
That's fine and there are several takeaway restaurants nearby. Please ask the Care Team for details.
