Triffic! Stoke fans to honour boss Pulis

Start date: 08/04/2010

STOKE fans are being urged to thrown their baseball cap into the ring to celebrate the achievements of City boss Tony Pulis.

The home game with Bolton Wanderers on Saturday week has accordingly been dubbed The Day Of The Triffics by some of the biggest admirers of Pulis.

Fans are being asked to turn up for the game dressed in track suits, baseball caps and TP masks to affectionately imitate their favourite manager.

The Day Of The Triffics – so called because of the manager’s favourite catchphrase – was the idea of lifelong Stoke fan Chris Hall (pictured above), and he’s been “working ’ard” to pull it off in time for the April 17 Premier League match at the Britannia Stadium.

He explained: “He is a triffic manager.

“The club must surely be in the best position it has ever been.

“Not only are we competitive on the pitch in the best league in the world, but we are also building for the future.

“Tony will go down in history as one of the most influential managers this club has ever had.

“Day of the Triffics is the supporters’chance to show Tony exactly how we feel about him and a way of saying a long overdue ‘thank you’ for his efforts.”

And in conjunction with a local firm producing Stoke City merchandise, Chris wants to help boost the sponsorship funds for Pulis’s attempt to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in May in aid of the Donna Louise Hospice Trust.

“We also recognise the unselfish work Tony does for local charities,” added Chris, “and want to utilise this occasion to boost his sponsorship for Kili for Kids.”

As a result of this, every Pulis-related item sold by Stoketshirts. between now and the Bolton game will generate £1 for the Kilimanjaro appeal.

Meanwhile, a Facebook page has also been set up online for fans wanting to know more about the Pulis day, and those interested should search Day Of The Triffics.

Pulis himself, somewhat taken aback by news of the event, commented: “Anything that raises money for Donna Louise has my full support.”

And the view of Stoke City fans? Just smashing!
