Did you know that, although around 74% of the UK population supports charities, only 7% chooses to leave a legacy to a good cause?
At The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice, income from legacies contributes just 3% of our total income.
We rely almost entirely on donations to raise the £2.2 million needed each year to provide care and support services to more than 180 children and families across Staffordshire and South Cheshire.
“The dependency on fundraising makes future planning very challenging which is why legacy income is so important to our sustainability,” said Director of Fundraising & PR, Melanie Mills.
“Knowing that funds have been pledged in a Will, helps us to plan future work with more accuracy, safe in the knowledge we have the necessary funds to implement those plans when the time comes.”

A sling to aid comfortable and safe lifting and moving our children who are wheelchair users.

A day’s respite care for 10 children and their families. Regular respite stays allow families the chance to recharge their batteries in a warm, homely environment.

Over 600 hours of counseling for children and families. Our counselors provide as much or as little support as needed for each family that uses our services.

Helps us to provide a Play Specialist to give fun times, lasting memories and keepsakes for our children and families. Our Play Specialist helps us make every moment count.

|
Will pay for a Children’s Palliative Care Nurse to provide expert, sensitive and compassionate care and support for children with life threatening conditions, both in the hospice and in the child’s own home.

£165,000
|
Enables us to provide vital respite and support for life threatened children and their families for a full month.

£2,200,000
|
Will run our comprehensive respite and end of life services for children and families from across Staffordshire and South Cheshire for a year. All of our services are provided free of charge to families and over 85% of this £2 million is obtained through voluntary donations.
