Spud Bud is a great project for primary, infant and junior school children who can adopt a spud, decorate it, and look after it for a week in return for sponsorship.
The Spud Bud challenge is a fun and easy activity aimed at 4-11 year olds. The children decorate a potato with anything that sticks to create a character, then give it a name and look after their Spud Bud for one school week. Your pupils then ask friends and family for a donation to help support the work that we do.
Our friendly fundraiser comes into school to deliver a positive, informative and interactive assembly about the ways we help our families and their children, and to provide details about the Spud Bud challenge to your pupils. They then go off to make their characters at home from a potato. Just take a look at the photographs above to see what you can create from a humble spud!

Some more ideas to get the most out of your Spud Bud Challenge Week!
· Keep a diary all about the life of your Spuddy Buddy!
· Create a potato joke board e.g. “What do you call a baby potato? A small fry!”
· Take some photographs of your Spuddy Buddy.
· Why not design and create a container to safely carry your new friend.
· Make an ID card for your Spuddy Buddy.
· Design a profile card or passport with his vital statistics.
· Write a list of his likes and dislikes.
· Write a story about your Spud and the adventures he has.
· Take your Spuddy into school for a day.
· Ask your teacher to make a display of everyone’s Buddys.
