A runner from Stoke-on-Trent is preparing to take on 12 half marathons in order to raise money for a Staffordshire children’s hospice.
Phil Thomas, 36, from Etruria, will be raising money for the Donna Louise Trust – a cause he has helped before.“I’d been thinking about new challenges and ways in which I could raise money for the hospice again,” Phil explained. “I know the efforts that I put in are very small compared to the work that the staff put in at the hospice to help make the children happy.
“They are the real heroes, I’m just a mad guy who wants to help and do my bit to fundraise for them.”
Phil is a member of Trentham Running Club and having already done the Six Towns Run in 2010, he admits that there is still a bit of training to do to prepare for his latest challenge.
“I just need to run, run and then run a bit more!” he said. “Basically I need a lot of time on my feet pounding out the miles.
“The training philosophy for this years big runs are no different, other then I’ll get to a position where I’m able to run about 70-plus miles in a week.
“I’m massively committed to this but any support will help enormously.”
