How your Money Helps
To make every moment count, we need every penny we can get.
When life is short, every moment counts. That’s why we we’re passionately committed to creating amazing memories and being there every step of the way the children and families who rely on The Donna Louise. Your fundraising and donations make this possible. Here’s how:
£10 – Lightening the load
Volunteers helping with housework can make all the difference to someone coping with the relentless demands of caring for a child with complex health needs.
£20 – Music makers
Music is a great healer and can uplift the soul. Our one-to-one music sessions are a real hit with children of all abilities.
£30 – Therapy through art
Art is an extremely popular form of fun and therapy at The Donna Louise, allowing our children and families to express their feelings in a powerful way.
£60 – Journey for Men
Men don’t often feel able to access support in the same way as women. Our Journey for Men group gives dads and other male carers a vital source of support during very difficult times.
£150 – Youth group
Just like every other teen, our teenagers like nothing more than hanging out with their friends and having fun. Our monthly youth groups enable them to do just that.
£700 – Round the clock nursing
Our highly skilled nurses are trained to care for children with very complex medical and emotional needs, both in the hospice or the child’s own home, 24 hours per day.
£1,300 – 24-hour respite stay
Whether it’s making music, playing games, meeting a counsellor or socialising with friends, the focus is on relaxing, having fun and making the most of life. Respite stays give families the chance to recharge their batteries in our home away from home.
£1,500 – Sibling sleepover weekend
Our sibling sleepover weekends allow our siblings to be the centre of attention for a while, to have fun, make some new friends, and be around people who know how tough it can be to have a seriously ill brother or sister.
£4,000 – Playmaker training
Playing with a seriously ill child can be challenging. This training enables our staff to deliver play sessions which are tailored to each child’s needs, as well as helping parents learn how to play and interact with their child.
£8,000 – Pay for a day
When families are broken, The Donna Louise helps put them back together again. We’re there for our families 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
