See how they grow!

24 July 2017

The premise for The Donna Louise Enterprise Challenge was simple, each team taking part was given £50, and they had until the end of June to turn it into as much money as they could to support the children and families at the hospice. A record-breaking 42 teams took up the challenge and have raised a phenomenal £15,000 with more still coming in.

There was so much fabulous fundraising, judges had a very tough time picking the winners. Prizes were awarded to the winning teams at a special celebration event at the hospice on Thursday 20th July:

Quickest off the Mark – The Rotary Club of Blythe Bridge

The first to return the money they'd raised was The Rotary Club of Blyth Bridge who distributed tubes of Smarties and returned them with over £400 inside.

Caring and Sharing Award – Boots

With 16 stores across the region taking part, the award for the business who best embraced the challenge across their organisation had to be Boots. Together, they raised thousands of pounds through an array of fabulous fundraising activities.

Most successful fundraising project – Hosting Systems Limited

Hosting Systems used their seed money to buy supplies for a BBQ and charged people to come along. The team also used a fantastic network of contacts to secure some wonderful raffle prizes and raised over £800.

Most creative fundraising idea – St. Theresa's Catholic Primary School

St. Theresa's Catholic Primary School in Trent Vale took on a whole host of creative fundraising. Embracing the blue and yellow from The Donna Louise logo, the children organised a Minion colour run and even held a blue and yellow themed cake sale to replenish all the calories they'd burnt off during their run.

Overall Fundraising Champion – Asda Distribution Centre

The team at Asda Distribution Centre in Newcastle clearly have a sweet tooth with chocolate and sweets playing a bit part in their success. Kicking off their challenge around Easter, the team bought tubes full of mini egg and again, returned them full of cash. They also held an Easter chocolate raffle, hosted cake sales, sold pick 'n' mix sweets and much more. They then used some of the money they'd raised to enter The Donna Louise Family Fun Run and raised an additional £500. In total, the Overall Fundraising Champions raised over £1,500.
